Understanding your group insurance with AG Employee Benefits

You have a group insurance plan with AG Employee Benefits. Sooner or later, you'll probably want to know more about your supplementary pension. In this article, we'll walk you through the different steps you'll need to take to find the most up-to-date information.

  • Is your group insurance plan sponsored by your current employer? Then you're an "active plan participant". Follow steps 1 to 5 below.
  • Do you have an AG group insurance plan via a former employer? Then go straight to step 3 below.

 

1. HR department
 

Your HR department should be your first point of call for questions about your supplementary pension. They'll quickly get you the help you need and tailor their advice to your specific situation, so feel free to contact them.

 

2. MyAG Employee Benefits
 

In the MyAG Employee Benefits app or web-based version, you'll get a clear overview of all the fringe benefits you have with AG Employee Benefits, such as a group insurance plan or death benefit coverage.

The web-based version is also where you'll find your benefits statement, a summary of your pension savings. It's also your go-to source for individually-tailored answers to questions such as:

  • How much have I accrued so far?
  • How much will I collect when I retire?
  • How much will my beneficiaries get if I pass away before my retirement date?
  • etc.

Don't have access to MyAG Employee Benefits yet?  Ask your employer about it. You'll then get an invitation letter or e-mail with instructions on how to register. Once you've completed the registration process, you'll be able to log in and find out more about your supplementary pension.

FAQ

It's possible that the figures on mypension.be and your benefits statement don't match. This happens if the calculations were made on a different date. Mypension.be shows the information on 1 January (the status date), while this isn't always the case for your benefits statement.

The calculation date used for your benefits statement will appear in bold in the first section above "Status on xx/xx/xxxx". Between 1 January and this calculation date, there may have been changes, such as a salary increase or change in family composition, that will impact the size of your supplementary pension and/or death benefit.

Have you downloaded the detailed statement from mypension.be? It contains a number of figures that are not always easy to understand. SARI coverage
 

In addition to death benefit coverage, some pension plans also pay out benefits if you die before retirement age due to an accident. This is called SARI coverage (Supplementary Accident Risk Insurance). On mypension.be, you can only see if your plan includes this coverage, but you won't find any of the details there.

MyAG Employee Benefits


MyAG Employee Benefits is a secure online tool. Ask your employer for your personal access. You'll then get an invitation e-mail or letter with instructions on how to register. Once you've completed the registration process, you can log in to view your supplementary pension in detail.

Your state and supplementary pension


Your state pension is the monthly amount you'll get from the government once you retire. Your supplementary pension is a nest egg that you accrue with the help of your employer or sector, in the form of group insurance or a pension plan. Your employer pays a monthly amount to a pension institution. When you retire, you collect the accrued amount, on top of your state pension from the government. In some cases, you can also make your own contributions towards your supplementary pension.

When you log in to mypension.be, you'll get an overview of how much you'll be entitled to collect when you retire. For your supplementary pension, you'll also see how much you've accrued with your current employer as well as your previous employer(s).
