White Castle Insurance SA/NV is a Belgian non-life insurance company in construction that is part of the Ageas Group. Once fully licensed, the entity is intended to act as a specialised risk carrier supporting Ageas’ international Non Life activities with MGA’s and BtoBtoC operating models through cross border Freedom of Services underwriting under a European passport. To further strengthen the leadership and governance of White Castle Insurance NV, Ageas is looking for a Head of Compliance.
Your function
The Head of Compliance has following areas of responsibility:
- Implementing and managing compliance within White Castle Insurance as required by regulators.
- Ensuring regular update on legal and regulatory changes, in collaboration with Legal Department.
- Converting regulations into clear internal policies and instructions.
- Establishing and maintaining a compliance risk assessment framework, including risk identification, evaluation, and monitoring.
- Creating and carrying out an annual risk-based compliance plan, focusing on key regulatory risks.
- Monitoring adherence to compliance policies and taking corrective actions such as training, communication, or sanctions.
- Reporting to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
- Maintaining transparent relationships with supervisory authorities (NBB, FSMA) and coordinating regulatory interactions.
- Escalating major compliance issues to WCI senior management / Board, to Ageas Group Compliance, and to supervisory authorities where necessary.
- Advising business and management on compliance matters, especially during new strategic initiatives.
- Promoting a strong compliance culture and ensuring staff training and awareness.
- Following up on alerts from the Whistleblowing Channel.
- Developing the compliance function efficiently, balancing strategic oversight with practical execution.
- Aligning activities with the group program and reporting to the Group Director Compliance.
Your profile
- Master’s degree in law, finance, economics, auditing or equivalent
- Min 10 years of relevant compliance-related experience
- Knowledge and experience of the activities of the insurance business
- Knowledge of the applicable laws and regulations
- Experience in / understanding of operational audit and risk management
- Proven experience in interacting with regulatory authorities within a regulated financial services environment
- Strong understanding of Solvency II governance, compliance and control framework requirements
- Ability to function in an international context
- Demonstrate highest degree of integrity
- Fulfil criteria in terms of competences and standards as described in Fit & Proper
- Self-motivated, autonomous, able to persuade and to resolve conflicts
- Strong independence of judgement and ability to challenge senior stakeholders and management when required
- Management and project management skills
- Ability and mind-set to turn constraints into opportunities and competitive advantage
- Team spirit of deep cooperation and sharing
- Accessible and a good listener
- Fluent in English, and Dutch or French at minima
