The vibrant Ageas Corporate Centre in Brussels is home to a variety of Group level functions including, amongst others, Risk, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Strategy, Business Development and Corporate Communications. It sets out the long-term strategy for Ageas and coordinates numerous initiatives across the Group to help realise the strategic ambitions. The Corporate Centre also facilitates knowledge and skills sharing amongst its local operating entities and JV’s, creating strong connections and leveraging local strengths. Your function

To support our expansion, we are seeking an experienced accounting and reporting professional to strengthen our Corporate Accounting team.

You will perform accounting and reporting for a newly established Non-Life insurance carrier and develop and enhance the underlying processes, controls and infrastructure.

Furthermore, you will provide support to the reinsurance and general accounting teams. The position is Brussels based and reports to the Head of Corporate Accounting.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the monthly and quarterly close and perform accounting activities related to the newly established insurance carrier under both Belgian accounting principles and IFRS.
  • Provide accounting support to the reinsurance and general accounting teams.
  • Produce statutory accounts and regulatory filing under Belgian GAAP.
  • Prepare IFRS reporting packages for Group consolidation and deliver management reporting with supporting commentary.
  • Improve internal controls and drive process improvements and automation. Collaborate cross functionally with other departments to resolve end-to-end issues.

Your profile

  • 5+ years’ experience in accounting or audit, preferably in the financial services industry or a large corporate. Experience in insurance/reinsurance is a plus.
  • Academic degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Sciences.
  • Good command of Belgian accounting standards and IFRS. Keen interest in developing accounting standards knowledge.  Exposure to IFRS17 is an asset.
  • Hands-on, solution-oriented approach. Organized and able to work autonomously and take ownership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication and collaboration abilities.
  • You are fluent in English. Dutch or French are a plus.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with mainstream ERPs and reporting tools.  Knowledge of NetSuite, SAP or OneStream are a plus.
