Ageas Re is organized as a Business Unit within ageas SA/NV, the Group holding, on whose balance sheet it underwrites third-party and intra-group reinsurance under the trade name Ageas Re. Today, Ageas Re serves clients globally, specializing in property and casualty treaty reinsurance. Ageas Re operates from its headquarters in Brussels and has a branch in Zurich.
Your function
• Collecting, verifying, analysing and recording financial data, with a critical mindset, related to the reinsurance activities of ageas SA/NV (in compliance with the Group’s Data Management Policy).
• Managing the administration of ageas SA/NV’s reinsurance activities in accordance with deadlines set by the Consolidation department.
• In close collaboration with the Ageas Re team, gathering of business information to be able to timely record the input in the general ledger and ensuring the proper asset and liability recording.
• Reporting: producing various periodic reports and handling monthly, quarterly and annual closings for the purpose of financial reporting, intended for internal (Ageas Re and Group management) and external publication (mainly NBB) within the imposed deadlines. This also includes assisting/preparing BGAAP annual accounts.
• Support the Ageas Re team for its performance reporting.
• Proactively challenging and forward-looking in executing various reporting tasks (e.g., through recommendations or increasing cost awareness with budget holders). This includes also the support on replies to questions from the auditors.
• Procedures/processes/systems: advising on procedures, processes and internal control measures to be used in the organisation. Playing a pro-active role in changing and maintaining the used financial systems.
Your profile
• You hold a relevant degree in accounting.
• You have extensive experience in an in-house accounting or administration role within a multinational organisation.
• You are fluent in English, with proficiency in Dutch or French being an advantage.
• You possess strong analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in financial data collection, verification, and recording.
• You are proficient in managing financial reporting tasks, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, and have experience with BGAAP (re)insurance annual accounts. Experience with NetSuite is a plus.
• You adopted a hands-on, proactive approach to advising on procedures, processes, and internal control measures, actively maintaining and improving financial systems.
• You are comfortable working under tight deadlines and can effectively collaborate with various departments, including Ageas Re and the Consolidation department.
• You demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, and can clearly present financial information to internal and external stakeholders.
• You are forward-thinking and can provide recommendations to enhance cost transparency and awareness among budget holders.
