The vibrant Ageas Corporate Centre in Brussels is home to a variety of Group level functions including, amongst others, Risk, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Strategy, Business Development and Corporate Communications. It sets out the long-term strategy for Ageas and coordinates numerous initiatives across the Group to help realise the strategic ambitions. The Corporate Centre also facilitates knowledge and skills sharing amongst its local operating entities and JV’s, creating strong connections and leveraging on local strengths. It represents the Ageas Group towards external parties, managing relations with analysts, retail and institutional investors, regulators, rating agencies and the media.
Department and objective
You are part of the Group Sustainability team (GS)* and as such, you will play a pivotal role in the overall functioning of the team and the completion of the strategic objectives allowing you to get a global view on what sustainability entails for Ageas. Specifically, you will support the Products and Climate related activities and with the opportunity to grow to leading roles in the respective matters and as such also support ESG ratings.
To strengthen the team, we are looking for a Group Sustainability Officer.
Responsibilities
Climate
- Own operations
- Coordinate the CO2 related data collection process and reporting
- Support/Coordinate the making and execution of the CO2 action plans to reduce GHG in our activities in line with the defined targets
- IAE (Insurance Associated Emissions) in Underwriting
- Coordinate calculation of IAE and reporting
- Contribute to the creation of insights, initiatives and target setting
- Steer and coordinate search for adequate tooling to internalise CO2 calculations
- Document the CO2 calculation methodology and contribute to CSRD reporting (E1, climate transition plan)
Products
- Support the execution of the ESG products roadmap (update ESG products catalogue, organise deep-dives in best practices, regular meetings core team etc…)
- Support CSRD reporting and more specifically ESRS S4, building maturity in selected customer related topics such as complaint management but also human rights
- Assist in ESG underwriting activities (implementation standards, disclosure exposure, input rating agencies…)
Internal and external communication & engagement
- Coordinate and support the information feed to Group Communication for both internal and external communication leveraging all communication tools
- Coordinate and support education initiatives towards Ageas Academy
- Assist/ Coordinate ESG presentations towards internal and external stakeholders
Coordination & Co-lead ESG Governance
- Set up ESG Steering Committee incl agenda management + minutes
- Organise and animate meetings with Network of Sustainability including corporate functions, regional office Asia and Opcos/affiliates
- Ensure the effective organisation of the GS team (Weekly ESG Coordination meeting; document management including setting up a library of valuable documents on specific ESG related topics and peers
Profile
- master’s degree and passionate about sustainability;
- 5-10 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a similar working environment
- a strong background in sustainability across various topics
- focussed on delivering quality and combining high level thinking with a good eye for detail;
- ability to approach topics multi-dimensional
- a "can-do" attitude and positive thinker;
- excellent communicator and able to work with people with different backgrounds;
- IT savvy, especially with PowerPoint but also a general understanding of tooling;
