The vibrant Ageas Corporate Centre in Brussels is home to a variety of Group level functions including, amongst others, Risk, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Strategy, Business Development and Corporate Communications. It sets out the long term strategy for Ageas and coordinates numerous initiatives across the Group to help realise the strategic ambitions. The Corporate Centre also facilitates knowledge and skills sharing amongst its local operating entities and JV’s, creating strong connections and leveraging on local strengths. It represents the Ageas Group towards external parties, managing relations with analysts, retail and institutional investors, regulators, rating agencies and the media. The Group Tax function operates within the CFO domain and works in close coordination with Group Legal & Compliance. It is responsible for defining and safeguarding the Group’s tax position, ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws and regulations, and supporting strategic initiatives across the Ageas Group. The Group Tax team acts as a centre of expertise providing guidance to local entities across Europe and Asia. To further strengthen the Group Tax governance and leadership, Ageas is looking for a Head of Tax.
Your function
Your main responsibilities are:
- Defining and maintaining the Group tax strategy in line with Ageas’ business strategy, values and risk appetite;
- Oversight of the overall tax position of the Ageas Group, including direct and indirect taxes, across all applicable reporting frameworks;
- Identification, assessment and monitoring of significant tax risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation and escalation where needed;
- Governance over tax compliance, tax accounting and tax reporting at Group level, including review of key tax disclosures and reports;
- Strategic tax advice to senior management and internal stakeholders on business initiatives, restructurings, M&A activities and international projects;
- Coordination of interactions with tax authorities, auditors and external advisors, including tax audits and tax rulings;
- Leadership, coaching and development of the Group Tax team.
Your profile
- Academic degree in Tax Law, Economics or Finance;
- Extensive relevant experience (min. 10 years) in international tax;
- Strong expertise in corporate and international tax and tax reporting;
- Experience with tax governance, audits, authorities and rulings;
- Ability to operate at senior stakeholder level;
- Strong leadership and people development skills;
- Fluent in English; French and/or Dutch is a strong asset.
