About the Cat Pricing Team
The Cat Pricing team is responsible for evaluating and pricing catastrophe risk within Property reinsurance portfolios, including natural perils such as windstorm, earthquake, and flood. The team operates across Brussels and Zurich and works closely with underwriters and non-cat pricing actuaries, particularly during peak renewal seasons.
This internship offers hands-on exposure to catastrophe modelling and pricing in a dynamic and fast‑paced environment.
Your function
Key Responsibilities
As a Cat Pricing Intern, you will:
- Support catastrophe pricing analyses, especially during renewal periods
- Assist in the pricing of catastrophe-exposed reinsurance treaties
- Run and interpret catastrophe models (e.g., vendor models such as RMS, AIR, or similar)
- Perform data extraction, validation, and portfolio preparation for modelling
- Analyze catastrophe exposure data and contribute to risk assessments
- Support internal reporting and contribute to market and industry analyses
- Collaborate closely with cat pricing actuaries, underwriters, and risk teams

Your profile
Education
Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s degree in:
- Actuarial Science
- Statistics
- Mathematics
- Engineering
- Quantitative Finance (or similar)
Technical Skills
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills
- Good command of Excel; experience with Python, R, or SQL is a strong plus
- Interest in catastrophe modelling and reinsurance pricing
- Familiarity with catastrophe models or geospatial data is an advantage
Soft Skills
- Ability to work independently and manage priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Stress-resistant and comfortable working with tight deadlines
- Clear and structured communication skills
- Proactive mindset and strong willingness to learn
Languages
- Fluent English required
- Any additional language is considered a plus
Additional Plus
- Basic understanding of catastrophe risk (e.g., natural hazards, exposure metrics)
- Prior exposure to reinsurance or catastrophe modelling
