Every summer, HR teams face the same challenges: an employee hospitalised abroad, an urgent request for proof of insurance, or an assistance number no one can find at the critical moment. These situations create stress for employees and for employers alike.

With AG Employee Benefits & Health Care’s group hospitalisation insurance, these risks are anticipated and managed. Wherever your employees are in the world, they can travel with confidence.

Hospitalisation coverage without borders

AG’s hospitalisation coverage doesn’t stop at Belgium’s borders. If an employee is unexpectedly hospitalised abroad, they benefit from the same solid protection as at home.

Coverage includes:

  • Medical expenses, accommodation and prescription medication, including a stay in a single room (where provided for in the plan)
  • Third-party payment, meaning no upfront expenses in most cases
  • Scheduled treatment abroad, subject to prior approval by the Sickness Fund

24/7 emergency personal assistance with Touring

Medical coverage is only part of the solution. With Emergency Personal Assistance abroad, Touring takes care of all the details on the ground: emergency transport, local medical coordination, repatriation, search and rescue costs (up to EUR 5,000), and accommodation expenses for a close friend or relative.

The result: zero administrative hassle for you, financial peace of mind for your staff members.

Emergency Personal Assistance abroad: key figures (2025)

In 2025, Touring handled 6.28% more Emergency Personal Assistance abroad cases than in 2024. As expected, the busiest months were July and August (12.48% each), followed by March (9.50%) and September (9.13%)*.

The destinations with the highest number of repatriations are, in descending order: Spain, France, Italy, Austria, Greece, Portugal, Morocco, Thailand, Germany and Switzerland.

The average cost of repatriation ranges from EUR 2,500 to 3,000 per case - fully covered by Emergency Personal Assistance abroad, not by your staff members.

*These percentages reflect the annual distribution of the total number of foreign assistance cases per month.

A Belgian doctor, in their own language wherever they are

Falling ill abroadoften means dealing with an unfamiliar healthcare system and a language barrier. With Doktr, your staff members keep access to their tried-and-trusted Belgian medical care.

For all employees and insured family members (hospitalisation):

Your employees can consult with a doctor licensed to practice in Belgium via video consultation, anywhere in the world and in their own language. There is a charge for these consultations. Prescriptions issued after the consultation are immediately available via eID.

With outpatient care coverage:

If your corporate plan also includes outpatient care coverage, your employees are entitled to additional services:

  • Access to Symptom Checker
  • A EUR 4 discount on Doktr video consultations

This way, you combine remote medical advice with a tangible financial benefit.

Medical emergency abroad? One number to remember

If an employee is hospitalised abroad, there’s just one thing they need to do: contact Touring, AG’s assistance service provider, on +32 (0)2 664 01 70, available 24/7.

From the very first call, Touring coordinates the entire process, right through to reimbursement. The number is available at any time in the MyAG Employee Benefits app, even in an emergency.

The MyAG Employee Benefits app: your best friend in the run-up to the summer holidays

With the summer holidays approaching, it's the perfect time to remind employees about what they can check or request themselves via MyAG Employee Benefits:

  • Their covers
  • Their refunds
  • Their healthcare services
  • Their proof of insurance
  • Their emergency personal assistance number

Because well-informed employees are more secure employees - and that means peace of mind for employers.

Proof of insurance, without HR involvement

In some countries, proof of insurance is required to access healthcare or obtain a visa. Without it, treatment may be delayed or even refused.

Via MyAG Employee Benefits, employees can request their proof themselves in just a few clicks, via the app or their computer. It’s sent by e-mail within 24 hours and remains downloadable and accessible offline on their smartphone.

The result?

  • Full autonomy for your employees
  • No action required from HR
