The vibrant Ageas Corporate Centre in Brussels is home to a variety of Group level functions including, amongst others, Risk, Finance, Legal & Compliance, Investor Relations, Human Resources, Strategy, Business Development and Corporate Communications. It sets out the long-term strategy for Ageas and coordinates numerous initiatives across the Group to help realise the strategic ambitions. The Corporate Centre also facilitates knowledge and skills sharing amongst its local operating entities and JV’s, creating strong connections and leveraging on local strengths. It represents the Ageas Group towards external parties, managing relations with analysts, retail and institutional investors, regulators, rating agencies and the media.
Your role
The major objective of the Compliance function is to see that the company and its employees comply with the laws, regulations, internal rules and ethical standards. To that end, the Compliance function will identify and assess potential compliance risk and ensure the professional management (monitoring and mitigating measures) of those. The compliance function aims at making sure that at any time and place, the company conducts business in such a way that whenever questioned about this we can confirm that, if we were to start over, we would conduct business in the same way taking into account the then prevalent situation.
The Compliance Officer has following areas of responsibility:
- Execute the compliance function activities within Ageas as defined by the regulatory authorities for a series of Compliance Domains as defined by Group Director Compliance (Sanctions, Competition, Integrity, Anti Bribery and Corruption, Conflict of Interest, Code of Conduct, Ethics etc).
- Analyze, assess and communicate legal and regulatory changes.
- Develop and execute a Compliance Regulatory Outlook
- Ensure the translation of the regulatory framework and rules into precise policies and instructions.
- Monitors and assess compliance with policies and standards, take the necessary measures (training, information etc) to reduce potential compliance risks.
- Reports internally and externally on Compliance Matters – compile reports of investigations conducted, findings and recommendations developed, action plans established, and progress noted.
- Ensure an adequate Handling of Speak Up Channels
- Delivers CSRD compliance annual report for Compliance Matters

The Compliance Officer reports to the Group Director Compliance of Ageas.
Your profile
- Qualifications.
- Master’s degree.
- Previous experience/ competences
- Minimal 10 years of experience in a Compliance, Audit or Legal function.
- Understanding of the (re)insurance business and in particular the impact of the regulatory frameworks on the insurance activities.
- Ability to shine in an international context.
- Demonstrate highest degree of integrity and discretion
- Language skills
- Fluent in English both spoken as written.
- Fluent in Dutch or French.
