Ageas Re 

Ageas Re is organized as a Business Unit within ageas SA/NV, the Group holding, on whose balance sheet it underwrites third-party and intra-group reinsurance under the trade name Ageas Re. Today, Ageas Re serves clients globally, specializing in property and casualty treaty reinsurance. 

You will be joining the Ageas Re Underwriting Tooling team, responsible for supporting the business with quantitative tools for reinsurance pricing and underwriting. Such activity requires an active participation alongside with the business for delivering high quality products that can be used in practice. The team assists the underwriting team both with improving current business practices as well as providing ideas on how technology can be used to do things differently and promote innovation.

Your function

Your main responsibilities are to:

  • Support the development of tools and services for reinsurance pricing and underwriting activities
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines for tool content consumers
  • Improve and maintain current production tools
  • Perform studies of different possible approaches
  • Update API documentation for both technical and methodological aspects
  • Participate in innovative research topics
  • Stay up to date with latest trends in technology in general and python development in particular

Your profile

Requirements

  • A strong academic background with a degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, computer science, a related discipline, or equivalent by experience.
  • At least three years of professional experience in roles involving quantitative research, data analysis, or software development.
  • Proficiency in Python programming
  • Working knowledge of SQL for database querying and management.
  • Experience with version control systems, particularly Git, for collaborative software development.
  • A strong foundation in statistical methods and concepts to support data-driven decision-making.
  • Familiarity with software testing practices to ensure robust, reliable, and maintainable code.

 Considered a Plus

  • Hands-on experience with Python libraries like NumPy, pandas, scikit-learn, and pytest for data manipulation, machine learning, and testing.
  • Knowledge of API development and integration to build scalable and efficient interfaces.
  • A background in data science, including modeling, visualization, and predictive analytics.
  • Experience working in the retail or financial services industries, particularly with insurance or reinsurance applications.

  • A strong willingness and ability to quickly learn new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • A proactive, resourceful "hacker" mindset, focused on efficiently achieving practical solutions.
