We're proud to announce the launch of AssurMed, a digital solution newly developed by Assuralia, the Professional Association of Insurance Companies. This initiative builds on the success of AssurPharma, the system introduced in 2015 that automatically forwards your staff members' pharmacy receipts to AG.
Another step forward in digital healthcare
Since 6 November 2023, staff members with hospitalisation or outpatient care coverage are able to send their invoices from GPs, dentists, and physiotherapists to us digitally via AssurMed. This will streamline the reimbursement process* for outpatient care expenses. In the future, the process may be extended to include other medical services and insurance covers such as occupational accident insurance.
How does it work?
- To use AssurMed, your staff members will first need to give their one-time consent via www.assurmed.be or via a healthcare portal such as Helena (in the coming months, this will also be possible via OxiCity). In compliance with the GDPR, prior consent is required for the transfer and processing of medical data.
- Once consent has been given, expenses can be forwarded to AG in two ways.
- In just one click, staff members that are already Helena or OxiCity users can send their proof of medical care to AG for reimbursement after an appointment with a GP, physiotherapist, or dentist. More information about these portals can be found on the Helena and OxiCity websites.
- The healthcare provider will send the medical proof to the AssurMed platform. Your staff members can then upload the proof of medical care via MyAG Employee Benefits.
- In just one click, staff members that are already Helena or OxiCity users can send their proof of medical care to AG for reimbursement after an appointment with a GP, physiotherapist, or dentist. More information about these portals can be found on the Helena and OxiCity websites.
- If the expenses are eligible for a refund pursuant to the insurance
contract terms and conditions, we will go ahead and issue a refund.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- Staff members are free to withdraw their consent at any time via www.assurmed.be. Their data will then be permanently removed from the system.
They can also choose not to disclose certain information. All they have to do is mention this to the healthcare provider who will encode their wishes in the software.
- All information sent via AssurMed is encrypted, scrambled, and used solely for reimbursement purposes.
When can assurmed be used to claim back the fees* paid for a doctor, dentist or physiotherapist?
- With hospitalisation insurance, your staff members can claim back the costs of an inpatient stay as well as pre-admission and post-discharge expenses (1 to 3 months before and 2 to 6 months after hospitalisation, depending on the terms of your policy). Costs incurred to treat a critical illness will also be covered year-round, even if no hospital stay is required.
- With outpatient care insurance, your staff members can (partially) claim back their medical expenses year-round, independently of a hospital stay. This includes doctors' appointments, house calls, paramedical services (nurse-administered treatment, kinesitherapy and physiotherapy), examinations (x-rays, medical imaging, and laboratory analysis), etc.

Assurmed, a welcome top-up to Assurpharma
Since 2015, the cooperation between pharmacists and AG that resulted in AssurPharma has streamlined the process to claim back pharmacy expenses.
When your staff members purchase prescription medication, all they have to do is hand their My Healthcare Card, always at their fingertips in the app, to the pharmacist for scanning. AG Employee Benefits will get their purchase details electronically and can then go ahead and refund the costs covered by their hospital or outpatient care plan. A very practical solution as it eliminates the bother of keeping crumpled pharmacy receipts and sending them in to us.
... And a cornerstone in AG's phygital vision
Projects such as AssurPharma and AssurMed are prime examples of AG's phygital approach, seamlessly combining digital and physical services. With this strategy, we can offer innovative solutions without losing the human touch. With AssurMed, we'll be launching an effective digital tool that makes it easier to manage insurance covers while maintaining the personal relationship you have with your contacts at AG.
