An Individual Pension Promise (IPP) is a way for you to reward a self-employed director that:
- performs professional duties for the company
- is paid a regular monthly income for services rendered
But you can also set up an IPP for your staff members:
- if your company also offers a supplementary pension scheme for all employees
- as long as the IPP is not set up in the three years prior to (early) retirement

An Individual Pension Promise is the ideal solution for your self-employed director(s) and staff members interested in actively managing their supplementary pension nest egg. In addition to the Branch 21 General Fund (with a guaranteed return), they also have the option to invest their employer premiums in a range of Branch 23 funds which are riskier but offer higher upside potential.
Flexible supplementary benefits
On top of the savings component of their supplementary pension, your staff members can also opt to include the following covers in their plan, depending on their individual needs:
- a death benefit payable to their beneficiary(ies) in the event of death
- a supplemental accidental death benefit
- a replacement income payable in the event of occupational incapacity (disability benefit)
- waiver of premiums insurance that keeps their supplementary pension benefits intact during their occupational incapacity leave
Cash advances
You can give your staff members the option to take out a cash advance against their supplementary pension benefits. This way, they can use some of their accrued supplementary pension savings before their retirement to purchase or renovate real estate or to pay off a mortgage loan.
